Live Wedding Painting

Your Love Story,

Painted in the Moment

What is Live Wedding Painting?

a live painting is a custom artwork created on your wedding day

Live wedding painting is a custom fine art piece created on-site during your wedding day. I capture your chosen moment in real time— transforming it into a painting that reflects the emotion and beauty the celebration.

Beyond the artwork itself, the live painting process becomes part of the celebration. Guests naturally gather to watch the scene develop throughout the evening, creating a unique point of interest and shared experience. As the painting progresses, anticipation builds — culminating in a meaningful reveal for you at the end of the night.

It’s not just a painting. It’s a moment preserved — and experienced.

How it works

1.Inquire & Check Availability
Begin by submitting an inquiry through my contact form to check availability for your wedding date. I’ll respond personally to confirm that your date is available and begin the conversation.

Because I accept a limited number of weddings each year, dates are reserved on a first-come basis.

A signed contract and a $500 retainer secure your date, and flexible payment plans are available for the remaining balance.

2. Consultation & Creative Planning
We’ll schedule a consultation to discuss your vision in detail — including the moment you’d like captured, your wedding colors and overall style, canvas size, and any meaningful details that make the scene uniquely yours.
After our conversation, you’ll receive a custom proposal. A signed contract and retainer officially reserve your date.

Easel with blank canvas at outdoor wedding ceremony setup near a lake, with chairs, floral decorations, and a wooden arch.

3. The Wedding Day
On your wedding day, I arrive before your ceremony to capture reference photos of your scene for the painting. I recommend allowing me to briefly attend the photo session before or after your ceremony to capture the best reference images of the scene for your painting.

I set up my easel and begin painting the moment we selected during our consultation — whether your ceremony, first dance, or another meaningful scene — thoughtfully aligned with your wedding timeline.

Guests are welcome to observe as the painting comes to life throughout the celebration.

4. After the Wedding
After the wedding, your painting is carefully refined in the studio to enhance detail, depth, and finishing touches.

Each piece receives additional studio time to ensure the final artwork is a polished heirloom that beautifully reflects your wedding day.

Your completed painting is then delivered as a finished original artwork ready to be treasured for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most couples reserve live wedding painting 6-12 months in advance, particularly for popular wedding months. Booking early ensures your date is secured on my calendar.

If your date is approaching, feel free to inquire — I’m always happy to check availability.

  • I work with professional fine art materials, which are selected for quality and longevity.

For heirloom live wedding paintings, I typically use acrylic paint on a pre-stretched canvas. After the wedding, the painting is refined in my studio, where I layer oil paint over acrylic paint to build depth, richness, and subtle detail before varnishing.

For live guest portraits, I work in watercolor accented with pen and alcohol markers to produce elegant, expressive keepsakes for each guest.

  • Most canvas paintings are completed and delivered within 10-12 weeks, depending on size and detail, as each piece receives additional studio refinement after the wedding.

  • Absolutely! I am willing to travel for live wedding painting events nationwide.

Weddings within approximately one hour of my Cedar Park studio are generally included. For extended travel or destination celebrations, travel considerations are discussed in advance and reflected in your custom proposal.

  • All I need is an outlet for my lighting and a small 5×5 ft. painting area.

If you’d like me to paint in an outdoor setting, I’ll need a shaded area (such as an umbrella or tent) to avoid direct sun or rain.

  • Each live wedding painting is created on a gallery-wrapped canvas with painted edges and professional hanging hardware installed, allowing it to be displayed beautifully without a frame. Framing recommendations are available upon request.

  • Live wedding paintings focus primarily on the couple, with a limited number of additional figures depending on the collection.

Keepsake (18×24) - Designed for the couple only.

Signature (22×28) - Designed for the couple only.

Classic (24×30) - Couple with option to include up to two additional figures or pets.

Heirloom (24×36) - Allows for additional figures, with more space for detail and storytelling.

Grand Heirloom (30×40) - Ideal for including multiple figures and capturing more of the scene.

Additional guests or pets may be added to larger paintings for an additional fee.

If you’re envisioning a painting that includes a larger group or full wedding party, this can absolutely be created. During the live event, I focus on bringing the couple to near completion and capturing the overall scene and atmosphere.

Additional figures are then carefully refined in the studio afterward, where I can give each person the time and attention to detail they deserve.

For more complex scenes, I may recommend a custom studio commission created from your wedding photos to ensure the highest level of detail and accuracy.

  • If your wedding has already taken place, I would be happy to create a custom studio commission using your favorite professional wedding photo. Studio commissions are a more affordable alternative than live painting. Please use the contact form to inquire about a custom painting from your photo.

  • Yes. Live wedding painting can be gifted by family members or loved ones and can even be added to your gift registry. Gift arrangements are handled privately to ensure the experience remains seamless and aligned with the couple’s wedding plans.

  • The moment is chosen in advance, and it can look very different depending on the atmosphere you’re drawn to and how your wedding day unfolds.

Some couples choose a first look, capturing the intimacy and emotion of that quiet moment before the ceremony. Others prefer the ceremony itself - such as the walk down the aisle, standing beneath the altar, or the moment just after the vows.

Some may choose the reception for the setting. The painting might reflect the first dance, a grand ballroom scene, or the overall energy of the celebration as guests gather and the space comes alive.

During our consultation, I help guide this decision by asking what you want the focus to feel like —do you want the painting to center primarily on the two of you, with a more intimate composition? Or would you love to capture more of the full scene — your florals, lighting, architecture, and atmosphere?

When planning, I coordinate closely with your timeline and often work alongside your photographer so the painting reflects a natural, meaningful perspective.

Together, we choose a moment that feels authentic to you and translates beautifully into a finished work of art.

  • Once we confirm availability for your date, I create a custom proposal for your event. To reserve your wedding date on my calendar, a signed contract and a $500 retainer is all that is required.

The remaining balance can be paid through a payment plan, with all payments completed prior to the wedding date.

  • Yes. To reserve your wedding date, a $500 retainer for any size canvas or guest portrait package is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance can be divided into additional payments leading up to the wedding.

    Typical payment schedule:

$500 retainer, plus three additional payments

All payments are completed prior to the wedding date.

    Example (Keepsake Collection - $1800) :

    • Retainer : $500

    • Payment 2: $433.33

    • Payment 3: $433.33

    • Final Payment: $433.34

      Total= $1800

This allows many couples to spread the investment over several months during the planning process.

The retainer is non-refundable and required to hold your wedding date.
