Live Wedding Painting

Your Love Story,

Painted in the Moment

What is Live Wedding Painting?

Live wedding painting is a unique and truly one-of-a-kind experience, where an artist paints live at your wedding or event. Guests can watch the artwork develop throughout the celebration, and you receive a finished painting that captures a meaningful moment of your special day.

You decide the special moment that you want preserved. Whether you choose the first look, portraits of your guests, or a landscape painting of the venue, live wedding painting offers a creative form of entertainment while capturing a lasting memory. Guests often enjoy watching the process unfold and leave talking about it long after the event.

Live wedding painting began long before photography, when painting was the primary way to document important life events. While photography later took that role, live painting has returned as a meaningful way to capture the moment with intention and artistry.

After the celebration ends, the painting becomes a lasting keepsake—a tangible reminder of the day that can be displayed and enjoyed long after the wedding has passed.

The Experience

Every live wedding painting experience begins with thoughtful planning. Before your wedding day, we’ll discuss your vision, the atmosphere of your event, and which moment you’d like the painting to focus on.

On the wedding day, I work quietly on-site, focusing on the selected moment while allowing the celebration to unfold around me. Guests are welcome to observe the process as the painting develops throughout the event.

The painting is completed using reference gathered during the wedding and refined afterward to ensure a finished, cohesive piece.

As the evening draws to a close, the painting is revealed to the couple for the first time —a meaningful moment that often becomes a highlight of the evening. Many couples choose to have their photographer capture that genuine reaction.

After the event, the painting is carefully refined, prepared, and delivered as a finished piece of original artwork from your wedding day.

Live Wedding Painting Options

Heirloom Live Wedding painting

This option focuses on the creation of a single original painting completed live during your wedding day. The artwork captures a meaningful moment from the day as the painting continues to develop throughout the celebration, with final refinements completed afterward in the studio.

While the painting is created for the couple, the live process also becomes a natural point of interest for guests as they watch the artwork takes shape over the course of the event. The completed piece is delivered as a finished, display-ready fine art painting from your wedding day.

Live wedding painting packages begin at $1600.

Live Guest Portraits

Live guest portraits offer an interactive experience for guests and a personal keepsake they can take home. Individual watercolor portraits are painted live during the event, creating a fun and memorable addition to the celebration.

Rather than focusing on a single heirloom artwork, this option is designed to engage guests throughout the evening while providing each guest with a hand-painted portrait as a wedding favor.

Live guest portrait packages begin at $1400.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most couples reserve live wedding painting several months in advance to ensure availability, particularly for peak wedding seasons. If your date is approaching, you’re welcome to inquire to see if availability remains.

  • I work with professional fine art materials, which are selected for quality and longevity.

For heirloom live wedding paintings, I typically use acrylic paint on a pre-stretched canvas. After the wedding, the painting is refined in my studio, where I layer oil paint over acrylic paint to build depth, richness, and subtle detail before varnishing.

For live guest portraits, I work in watercolor accented with pen and alcohol markers to produce elegant, expressive keepsakes for each guest.

  • After the wedding, the painting is refined, varnished, and prepared for delivery. Most finished heirloom paintings are completed and delivered within several weeks of the event, depending on size and finishing requirements.

  • Absolutely! I am willing to travel from my Cedar Park, TX art studio to anywhere within the continental United States to capture your wedding or special event on canvas.

In my local area I serve weddings within approximately one hour of my home without additional travel requirements.

For locations such as San Antonio, Houston, or Dallas — which typically involve two to four hours of travel by car - this often requires committing the full day to travel, setup, and painting. For these events, travel considerations are discussed in advance and reflected in your custom proposal.

For longer distances, late-evening schedules, or multi-day events, overnight accomodations may be necessary to ensure the day is handled thoughtfully, safely, and without rushing.

For weddings requiring air travel, arrangements may include airfare, ground transportation, and one overnight stay. Depending on the location and scope of the event, transporting painting materials and equipment as checked luggage may also be required.

All travel details are discussed in advance during the consultation process so expectations are aligned well in advance and there are no surprises.

  • My setup is simple and self-contained and typically does not require assistance from venue staff. I bring my own portable easel. The venue simply needs to designate a small painting area in advance of my arrival, either indoors or outdoors.

Access to a nearby power outlet for lighting, wifi, a water source, and a sink or similar location for disposing of paint water is also helpful.

Additionally, the painting area should be positioned where I have a clear view of the scene I will be painting.

  • For heirloom live wedding paintings, the focus is typically on the couple and a specific moment from the day. Additional figures, including guests or pets, can be featured for a fee of $75 per person or pet. Details can be discussed during planning to ensure the painting remains clear and intentional.

  • If your wedding has already taken place, I would be happy to create a custom studio commission using your favorite professional wedding photograph. Studio commissions are a more affordable alternative than live painting. Please use the contact form to inquire about your commission.

  • Yes. Live wedding painting can be gifted by family members or loved ones and can even be added to your gift registry. Gift arrangements are handled privately to ensure the experience remains seamless and aligned with the couple’s wedding plans.

  • The moment is chosen in advance, and it can look very different depending on the atmosphere you’re drawn to and how your wedding day unfolds.

Some couples choose a first look, capturing the intimacy and emotion of that quiet moment before the ceremony. Others prefer the ceremony itself - such as the walk down the aisle, standing beneath the altar, or the moment just after the vows.

Some may choose the reception for the setting. The painting might reflect the first dance, a grand ballroom scene, or the overall energy of the celebration as guests gather and the space comes alive.

When planning the moment, I coordiate closely with your timeline and often work alongside your photograpehr so the painting reflects a natural, meaningful perspective. Together, we choose a moment that feels authentic to you and translates beautifully into a finished work of art.

  • Once we confirm that I am available for your date, we will schedule an introductory consultation by phone or email. Following our discussion, I will create a custom proposal for your event.

Once a proposal is selected, a signed contract and a 50% retainer are required to reserve your date on my calendar. The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to your wedding date.
